Why Online Shopping is More Convenient Than Traditional Retail Shopping
I remember very vividly of growing up and the only times I really thought of shopping was when my parents would take us school cloth shopping, Christmas shopping and grocery shopping. As a kid, I hated it but, how many kids really love to go grocery shopping? Well, I will tell you that I see many kids these days in the grocery stores and my heart goes out to them. They are screaming and acting up, wishing they were at home able to be playing while mom or dad goes to the store. However, many people are really trying to make ends meet, working two jobs or both parents work and but the burden back on our kids.
Now, we are in the I need it now generation. I have a son that wants the latest of everything that comes out. Stores are everywhere, where when I grew up, it was a 20 minute drive. Now, why have stores popped up in every suburb? National debt is growing at unbelievable rates and our family debts are rising just as fast. So, why not shop at your local stores? Now, let me ask you, do you make a list and when you go to the store, can you stick to the list and only buy what is on the list 100% of the time? Most people can not. That is why we have more demands on the local stores, and this means we spend more and often spend more than we have in our budget. Now, what is our cost to have this available?
Now, the average rent on retail spaces is about $200 per square feet. If your favorite grocery store is 2000 square feet, that is $400000 per month for the rent per month which includes utilities. Who do you actually think pays that cost? It is added into everything you buy, and if you buy more than what you planned, you are contributing to the rent payment.
Now, you add all the costs of employees, and all the other costs and that skyrockets the cost. So, if you have 1000 customers, they expect that you will spend 400 per person for the rent per month, and that does not count other expenses. Since no one knows when you will come shopping or the other 999 people per month, those people to run the store have to stand around and be paid. Increasing the costs for all of us!
What is your time worth? How much do you spend in gas, maintaining a vehicle to allow you to go shopping? If you can, what does it cost to have someone watch your kids while you shop? If you take your kids to the store, what is it costing you for the whining items? Yes you know those items, the “Mom I want…..” items.
Now, if you can structure yourself, and order stuff online, stores are giving you great saving! Some yes you will want to pay attention to shipping. Yes, not everything makes sense to buy online, but it is great to know what makes sense and what does not. There are companies that will also pay you to help them find online customers. Some of the companies are ZamZuu, Dubli, My Harvest America and Market America.
Now, I mention these companies in no particular order. Why are they keeping your costs down? Because they do not need all the overhead of thousands of locations. They will allow you to shop online and you benefit as a customer, first and foremost.
